New patients

What to expect when you begin

Starting psychiatric care is a meaningful step. Here's how the process works at Healing Minds PLC so you can feel prepared and at ease.

01

Reach out

Contact us through our inquiry form or by phone. We'll confirm availability and answer any initial questions you have about our services.

02

Schedule your evaluation

New patients begin with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation — typically 60 minutes. This is a thorough, unhurried conversation about your history, current challenges, and goals.

03

Complete intake paperwork

Before your first appointment, you'll receive intake forms to complete at your own pace. These help Dr. Marwah understand your background and prepare for your session.

04

Attend your first appointment

Your evaluation is a collaborative conversation — not a test. Dr. Marwah will listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and work with you to understand what kind of support would be most helpful.

05

Build your care plan

Together, you and Dr. Marwah will develop a personalized care plan. This may include medication, therapy, or a combination — always tailored to your needs and preferences.

Intake process

Preparing for your first visit

Bring your medical history

If you have records from previous providers, psychiatric hospitalizations, or prior diagnoses, please bring them or have them sent ahead of time.

List your current medications

Include all prescription medications, supplements, and over-the-counter drugs — along with dosages if you know them.

Note your questions

Write down anything you want to discuss. There are no wrong questions, and your concerns are always welcome.

Arrive a few minutes early

Give yourself time to settle in before your appointment. If you're joining via telehealth, test your connection a few minutes beforehand.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions answered

Do you accept insurance?

We are a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. However, we can provide a superbill — a detailed receipt — that you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We recommend contacting your insurer to understand your out-of-network benefits.

Do you offer telehealth appointments?

Yes. We offer both in-person and telehealth appointments. Telehealth sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Many patients find telehealth convenient and just as effective as in-person care.

How long is the initial evaluation?

Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation that typically lasts 60 to 90 minutes. Follow-up appointments are generally 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your needs.

What conditions do you treat?

Dr. Marwah works with adults experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, and more. If you're unsure whether your concerns are a good fit, please reach out — we're happy to discuss.

Will I be prescribed medication?

Not necessarily. Medication is one tool among many, and it's never prescribed without a thorough evaluation and your informed consent. Dr. Marwah takes a collaborative approach — your preferences and concerns about medication are always part of the conversation.

How often will I have appointments?

Appointment frequency depends on your individual needs and treatment plan. Some patients are seen weekly at first, while others meet monthly for medication management. Dr. Marwah will work with you to find a schedule that supports your care.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee. We understand that life happens — please reach out as soon as possible if you need to make a change.

Is my information kept confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is protected by HIPAA and by our own commitment to confidentiality. We will not share your information without your written consent, except in limited circumstances required by law (such as imminent safety concerns).

Have more questions?

We're happy to answer anything before you schedule. Reach out and we'll get back to you promptly.
